Integration Solutions

BizTalk Server is Microsoft's Integration and connectivity server solution. A mature product on its sixth release, BizTalk Server 2009 provides a solution that allows organizations to more easily connect disparate systems. Its key features include:

Accelerated connectivity to LOB applications with over 25 multi-platform adapters and a robust messaging infrastructure, BizTalk Server provides connectivity between core systems both inside and outside your organization.

  • BizTalk also provides strong durable messaging: This serves as a backbone for the implementation of industry accepted ESB and SOA Archiectures.
  • Graphical Data mapping and process orchestration tools: The BizTalk toolset includes a third generation process orchestration tool and a graphical mapping tool
  • A business rules engine: Allows the centralization, authoring and management of business rules across the enterprise.
  • Business Activity Monitoring (BAM): BAM enables user to author reports from data passing through the service bus. The BAM infrastructure enables end to end reporting capability without having to build the plumbing for it.
  • B2B Accelerators: Rapid implementation of EDI, Rosettanet, HIPAA through a set of BizTalk accelerators.
  • RFID capabilities and IBM Host/Mainframe connectivity: The Windows Host Integration Server has been merged with BizTalk to provide robust connectivity to mainframe data on the file system, database and application (CICS) level.
The goal of BizTalk Server 2009 is to help organizations create automated business processes that span diverse applications and platforms. Along with its core messaging and orchestration capabilities, the product includes a BRE for working with complex business rules and BAM to let information workers track running processes. Additional components, such as EDI support, the RFID server, SOA infrastructure support, and Enterprise Single Sign-On, address other related challenges.
From its initial roots in EAI and B2B integration, BizTalk Server has grown into a foundation for BPM. As the change to a service-oriented world rolls on, BizTalk Server 2009 will continue to play an important part in automating business processes in a diverse world.

Integration Methodology

Our Integration practice deals with projects in the EAI (Internal Integration of applications), B2B (Integration with external sources) and Workflow based Integration scenarios. The popular technology level patterns/architectures in this area are ESB and SOA. We try to eliminate the marketing fluff around them and tailor specific implementations to maximizing ROI and reducing TCO.

How are Integration projects different from any other projects?

Integration scenarios are inherently different from web applications and we understand that the same methodologies cannot be applied to both categories of projects. Unlike web applications, the interfaces of the applications can be fairly clearly defined (in terms of their schematics, semantics, transport and binding characteristics) since they are usually applications that don't change their mind very often. This is true of both B2B and EAI projects. This opens up the possibility of executing large portions of work to cheaper offshore teams.

Template driven analysis and design

We follow a template driven approach building on top of standard MSF templates but customizing them to common integration specific scenarios. For example the B2B templates below contain details of EDI standards on one hand, their mapping to internal systems, business rules and validations, processes that integrate the various interfaces and samples to run test cases.
